Default Gear knob

Hi all. Has anyone swapped out the gear knob on their 308? I don't like the look of it and in cold weather it's bloody freezing to the touch and I suspect in hot weather (if we get some!) it's going to get silly hot. Is it just a question of pulling it off (fnarr fnarr )

If you find out please be sure to post an answer.

To my mind it's like cradling a monkey's skull.

If it's the same as the RCZ it just pulls up.
Takes a bit of force mind.

Manual obviously, why would anyone want an automatic rcz??

I have been looking at this as I need to replace the cover as the one i have has holes in it. I have found two types of videos on you tube; one where you twist it 180 degrees and pull up and the other where you just pull up as xlineIain states. Does look like it takes a good bit of effort however the issue highlighted is lifting the cover first as the plastic clips holding it down can break and you need to release them first before removing gear stick.

I did it on my SW (2015). You just pull it upwards.
I wrote a post on this forum about it, basically you want to take a length of rope, thicker one, and pass it under the seats and over your hands so that when you star pulling and it finally comes up it doesn't fly up and breaks your nose. First time around I needed a fair ammount of force for it to come off...
