Default Tilting Mirrors in Reverse - Can't make it work

Hi, i have a new 308 active 1.6 diesel auto. April 2013 UK spec.

I can't get the function where putting the car into reverse makes the mirrors tilt to the kerb to work. I want to check if i'm doing it right and if i should have the function. those 17" shiny wheels depend on it.

so the manual says:
Quote:
Automatic tilting in reverse gear

-System which provides a view of the ground during parking manoeuvres in reverse gear.

Programming

-With the engine running, engage reverse gear.
-Select and adjust the left-hand and right-hand mirrors in succession.
-The adjustment is stored immediately.

Switching on

-With the engine running, engage reverse gear.
-Move control A to the right or to the left to select the corresponding mirror.
-The glass of the mirror selected tilts downwards, in accordance with its programming.
Which seems fairly self explanatory unless i'm missing something.

So with the engine running i pop it in to reverse, flick the switch to the left mirror, tilt it down, switch to the right mirror and tilt it down, move it back to drive and, well nothing. the mirrors are left pointing at the floor, i have to move them back up to the driving position manually.

when i subsequently engage reverse and flick the switch left or right nothing happens.

any thoughts?

According to my current spec list the Active doesn't have the function.

bugger

this is the spec I ordered from http://ul.to/16dhox1p
i actually don't see it on there for any model. so i assumed it was just standard. where should i be looking?

One of the things i noticed when looking for this car was that it is increasingly hard for them to differentiate the specification levels. so they hold back stupid things that are just software. like the hyundai i30 on one trim level has one touch open on the driver's window. and the next one up has one touch open and close.

If its like some other models you may find they never bothered adapting it for rhd models, or it may be there but requires activation on Planet (unlikely).

There is a window to activate the function in Planet, but there is a note at the bottom of the page saying only for models with drivers seat memory function.

Did anyone confirm this? Been trying to program this thing myself yesterday, no luck. Car has electrically adjusted and folded mirrors - why on earth would they exclude a software function like this is beyond me. Assholes to say the least.
