Default Replacing Front Bar Upper Reinforcement

Has anyone tried to replace the Front Bar Upper Reinforcement themselves on a 2012 308? It sits just behind the front grille and just in front of the radiator.

Is it an easy DIY and is it advisable?

It's probably a bolt on part, so I can't see why you couldn't do it with a decent set of tools

Thanks. I’ll check the workshop manual and find out how easy it is to get to. My local mechanic quoted me at least AU$300 for labor.

Is it advisable? Depends on your reason for wanting to do it.

You have to remove the front bumper moulding which is a bit of a fiddle, but nothing the average owner couldn't do. The bar then unbolts.

If you've had accident damage, then it could be different.

The previous owner of this car crashed into the rear of another car with a tow bar and caused damage to the bar - its bent in the middle and this saved the radiator from sustaining any damage. The bumper and grill also suffered some damage but not visible at first glance There are cracks but no missing large pieces - I can live with it. Obviously got the car for cheap but with this unexpected baggage 😞
