Default Peugeot 308 tire size

Hi,

I have a Peugeot 308 SW, 120 hp. Current tire size is 195/65 R15. I want to replace them with size 205/65 R15 or 215/65 R15. Would this affect performance in any way?

Thank you,
Omar

The number 165 relates to the Tyre Width, it is the width of the tyre in millimetres.

The number 65 relates to the Tyre Profile, it is the height of the tyre sidewall as a percentage of the width. This is also known as the aspect ratio.

The Letter R relates to Radial Contruction.

The number 15 relates to the Tyre's Size, it is the diameter of the tyre's inner rim in inches.

So YES, this will affect performance as the wider tyre will also have a larger side wall, so a larger circumference.

Also a 205 will not sit correctly on a 165 rim.

And your insurer will likely regard a change in tyre size as a big no-no and will bend you over and arse ream you while stealing your wallet.

Not stricltly true chopper, you can change you tyre size, as long as you don't change the overall circumference/radius of the wheel and tyre.

So, after a little bit of calculation... a 195/65 R15 would have the same circumference as a 205/50 R17. Not affecting your speedo, or performance, and should not affect your insurance premiums.
