Default Peugeot 308 issues

Hi all,

I've just purchased a 308 auto petrol 2010 plate and there are few things i've noticed that may or may not be an issues.
Firstly the anti-pollution fault message has come on - I've googled this and it appears it could mean anything so i will get it into the garage for a diagnostics check.
Secondly the vehicle seems to lack power, when i switch it to manual mode it will only let me go up to 4th gear and when on the motor way the revs are above 3 on the dial at 70 mph is this normal?
Are the two issue related?

Could the engine power be down to a failed ignition coil, would the ECU show this if it was?

Many thanks,

Mike

Thanks Gibbo, I have updated my location.
I have a period between tomorrow and Monday where I don't need to use the car.

I've sorted a diagnostics test for the Anti-pollution fault but just wondered in your experience should the manual gear change allow me to move up to higher than 4th gear and its 3rpm normal for 70mph on a 10 plate 308?

Many Thanks

Mike

Hi , The garage have advised the fault means the timing chain needs replacing.
Does this seem likely form that fault and is 700 a reasonable price for that job?

Thanks

Mike

Timing chain should clatter when cold. That's a pretty sure sign.
