Question Engine Cooling Fan

Hi
I just had my car in at the dealers to fix the dreaded antipollution faulty/loss of power problem which was solved by replacing the fuel filter.

A note from the test report says 'Cooling fan issue also in engine ECU tests show not faulting at present (intermittent faults) may require monitoring by customer'.

Could this potentially be a serious problem? Should I be looking to get this fixed asap?

If its the 110 then it needs the fan to regenerate.

I'd start by making sure all the wiring connectors and relays are in good clean condition.

It's the 90bhp version. If the fan faults would I get anti pollution fault again? I'm not sure how strict the ecu is when reporting intermittent faults so am not sure how serious this could be. The dealers didn't try to sell me a fix so im puzzled.

No, if you've got a 90 and no particulate filter then the fan should only be used to cool then engine when it gets too hot.

If you're losing power and getting the AP fault then that could be the MAF sensor. But it could also be a dozen other things.

But if the car is throwing up the fault message, it will have recorded a fault code which we can read:

Probably a cooling incorporated into the ecu fault. Usually the fan resistor fault. Also can be a wiring problem. Go back and get them to check it.
