Default Emission problem

Hi Guys

I was wondering whether anyone can help me. I have purchased the 308 model very recent and I've started having problems with strong petrol smell from the exhaust when I start the engine. Also I have constant noise under the drivers wing but I dont know what sort of part is this (looks like a little box) and maybe this has got something to do with the emission problem.

Can anyone help?!

I've forgotten to add, it is 1.6 engine, SW, 2008, 120 bph, EP6. Maybe this has got something to do with solenoid valve???

Don't worry about it. All normal. The clicking is the purge control solenoid.
Oh and stop sniffing the exhaust, its not good for you.

You don't need to replace it. The clicking is normal.

I was thinking maybe to replace the spark plugs? I have notice from the paperwork that the service was done in July 2012 in KwikFit and plugs were replaced at that time but then on the clock was 38,000 miles, no I have 46,800.
