Default 308cc roof - fault codes

Hello,

I bought a Peugeot 308cc 2011MY in February, and the car has been great until the weekend before last. That weekend, the roof opened fine but refused to close (the boot lid opened partially and then it froze, with an error message that the roof mechanism is faulty). The AA came along and connected it up to their computer and read the following error codes on their system:

98A1 Right Roof Lock Relay
BF74 Unknown

They cleared the errors and were able to close the roof, but opening the roof again made the problem come back. I have taken it to two local Peugeot “specialists” so far who have been unable to diagnose or repair the problem, so I am really hoping that you can help! I'm booked in with a roof specialist at the end of next week but I'd really like to get it working before then. Can anyone offer any hints or advice?

Many thanks,

-simon

So I'm left replying to my own post :-). I finally found a good mechanic to diagnose, the problem is the motor that controls the flaps that flop down when the tailgate is lifted to release the roof. Cost £50 to diagnose and £250 to replace, luckily covered by my warranty (mechanical breakdown insurance really). There's a chance it might be the roof ECU instead (cost about £700) but most likely it's just this motor. Will be getting it repaired next week when the part comes in from Peugeot.

Reason you got no reply is because nobody had an answer !

Very few 308 CC models around and even fewer people who have a good understanding of them peugeot themselves are clueless rely on reading faults and throwing expensive parts at it till your skint

With CC issues its always best to find someone who knows the cars i have a good knowledge of the 206 and 307 issues but the newer CC cars have different systems although they were all made by the same company NOT peugeot they were made by a french coachbuilder now defunct.

Indeed. I am glad to have found a good mechanic who understands them; I will put a link to his Website for others in London once the problem is fixed 🙂

I’m considering buying an iCarsoft device for the 308cc, either a Peugeot specific one or a more expensive one that covers many cars. Any opinions on them? I’ve searched the forum for iCarsoft without much luck. I want something portable that I can keep in the car...
