Default 308 Day Running Lights

My Daylights are the 12v 21/5w version and there are frequently blowing.
I have been back to the dealer several times about this the only answer I get is that I have them on to long, which I think is ridiculous.
Is anyone else out there had or got this problem?

really bright, and they dim when the headlights come on but you can still see the pure white light from them
