Question 308 1.6 Diesel - oil in heater water

My heater was only blowing cold and I had i checked and the water topped up. There appeared to be a little oil in the water but it was not emulsified.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Hoping it's a simple fix!!

Thanks in advance!

Thats a realy bad sign and means that oils get in your water cooling system, often this is caused by a bad headgasket but it can also be caused by a cracked oil cooler.
If it is a small amount of oil drive some more an check if water is disappering and how much it loses in a set distance.

Its much more likely to be the oil cooler than the head gasket as diesel head gasket failure generally causes pressure in the cooling system.

Oil and water mixing is generally a petrol engine symptom but if it happens on a diesel the oil cooler is first thing to check.
