Default Whats the best 307 package on the used car market ?

No matter where you look on the used car market 307 always pop up at a vast array of prices

I have never had a car for so long as my current 307 1.4HDI
Thing is its now coming up to five years restoration / ownership

My 206cc was up for tax renewal and I couldn't justify the £260 road fund licence
I bought it as a stop gap and to run the current tax off it

2.0l petrol was thirsty but we had the beans on tap when required
As I was filling up the tank at a local garage whom had cars on the forecourt for sale if he had any cheap road tax motors it was a choice of 307 or a Clio 1.5dci
never drove either but the 307 was 1 owner car just another Pug ?
it was buried in the corner with a full mot
I said I would buy it , handshake agreement and by the time I went home for the docs it would be out ready to drive away

He gave me what I paid for the 206cc and a few hundred quid to exchange

1.4 is okay around town but not a mega mile muncher on motorways
and it can do it but I think I need a bit of oomph as need bigger diesel

So whats the best 307 diesel combination 90 hp. 110 ?
Are automatics to be avoided ?

I only want to spend a grand, as a dump and go car not worry about it
Starts and runs and does the job a-b

A later 307 with the full Bosch CAN CAN electrical system.

DW10 ( 2.0 HDI 90 bhp diesel 8 valve ) is pretty much bulletproof, its proven it can go past 400k miles if looked after, yes its not the most powerful engine available but its been around since the year dot & they are a very reliable donkey to have under the bonnet.

Auto or manual, at this price point your going on condition & service history as its basically a throw away car if something expensive throws its toys.

For a grand you can get a 90bhp 2.0 thatís had cam belt and a clutch recently and in mint condition if your not in a a major rush

Bosch injection is smoother but hard to tell what itís for from pics normally

for a grand you could get 3 clio 1.5 dcis and they are £30 to tax

Find an 80hp one and they are only £20 to tax do 60+ mpg and more reliable than any peugeot
assume nothing check everything twice !!
