Default Temperature gauge 307 2.0 hdi

Hi all I was wondering of someone could advise me on this matter I have.

I have a 53 plate 307 and a while ago I had the stop message relating to the engine coolant sensor been faulty so I replaced it and all is fine. Now my car heats up as it should blows out hot air but the temperature gauge does not move from zero. I have even drove from leeds to Birmingham and still did not move. Any tips on what it could be please.

A friend said there is a blue sensor under the coolant sensor that operates the gauge is this also true I have been googling all day and can't find the right answer.

Thank you for any help or advice given in advance.

Vince

It is a green sensor on the end of the engine just above the gearbox bell housing, its held in with a slide in clip.

I always fit a bright colour cable tie or similar to the clip before i remove it as it makes it easier to pull it out and find if you drop the clip down the side of the engine
