Default Reprogramming *all* the keys for a car (New owner)

Basically I got my 307, and it came with one key....which is common but still a bit "hmmmm".
I don't like the thought of someone out there with a key to my car.....
Looking at the previous documents, the last owner (I bought from garage) lives near here.

Can I resync/reprogram the one key I do have with PP (thus rendering the lost spare useless (except for opening the door of course)).

I'm sure I read Peugeot recommend that dealers do this when a car changes hands anyway, so I would have thought it possible?

Yes , you can state "one" key then recode it leaving any other key obsolete

Ah cool...
Only problem is, setting it to only one key, I still need a second key for my wife?

When you get another key , go through the same process but select 2 keys

Ah, so I can delete the details from the lost key?

Do they all have some sort of unique serial coded into them?

Using pp just delete all key that are programed already then reprogram your 1 key, when you get a spare for the wife program that.
I did exactly that with my 307.

Yup, that's exactly what I did.

basically went into the new parts section of PP2000, and it asked how many keys? I said 1, and I had to recode that key to the car...I assume it nuked the other one.

When my wife's key came I did the same, entered 2, and recoded both.

Job done.

This does make me wonder then.....Did the car actually program the key, or just read the key for it to recognise it in future as a valid key?
I mean, it cant have written to the keys because my original key had already been written to, but the procedure in planet was for both.

Therefore I was wondering if I could use an old key and transponder (but with new blade) from another 307? I know everywhere says the transponder can't be rewritten, but if PP2000 just instructs the car to recognise what's already on the transpoder instead of writing to it?

Hi bod, have you tested your theory above?

I didn't, no. I'm still interested as to how it does it though, does it just read the key or write to it?

Trying a secondhand/used transponder is a waste of time I've been asked to code 2nd hand keys before (bought from ebay thinking they were new or could be recoded) but they are one time only and if you just want a key with no remote transponders can be bought for around 3.

BTW Bod great avatar!!!
