Default PP2000 AUTEL diagnostic tool. Still cannot make sense of a sensor ?

2004. 1.4hdi

dashboard. states. 800rpm. on tick over. ( normal )

PP2000. reads 6-8000 rpm. on live data. tick over ?

Autel MK808 reads 2-2300rpm. on live data

What reads the engine speed on these engines ?
Crankshaft sensor ?
Camshaft sensor ?

a calculation between them both to create engine speed

another speed sensor ? engine rpm sensor ?

alternator ? off signal wiring ???

Anybody have any idea ?

Anybody have a wiring schematic ?

No fault codes for anything barring the. glowplug relay nonsense ( UK weather)

Sounds like a software glitch in planet and the other scanner is getting confused as in 2004 diesel cars did have to comply with obd2 requirement and most used their own data format.

Crank sensor supplies rpm signal to engine ecu which then passes it on to vehicle systems via VAN/CAN network

I will try another copy of planet and retry

I have used the Autel on many different vehicles and even other French makes and its been bang on

I had toyed with getting a dedicated French car diagnostic but pleased I haven't as I fear it still wouldn't talk to the 307
