Default power loss/hot turbo

Hi just wondering if anyone can help.

I have a pug 307 1.4hdi 2003 manual, it has delovoped a intermittent fault.

It looses power like it is in limp mode and the turbo gets so hot it starts to smoke!

I have checked the arm on the turbo and its free, i have plugged it in to the diagnostics and it just says clutch pedal switch!?! Eml doesn't come on when the fault occurs either.

Any help greatly received

Try removing the air feed pipe and check the turbine wheel itself for wear/leakage. End float and up and down movement, when the engine is cold of course!
