Default Possibly dead ECU?

Hello!

2005 307 SW 1,6 petrol.

Long story short: Dead starter motor and melted battery contact, believed to have happened due to the starter staying enganged and acting like an extra generator.

I believe the same thing has happened again, but this time the battery contact did not melt, and I'm afraid that it has fried the ECU.

A friend had borrowed the car and taken it for an 8 hour drive. Once they got home they made a quick stop, and when they got back in the car again it wouldn't start (starter motor just clicking). I believe they also tried to jump start it with jumper cables, unsuccessfully. They then towed the car to my place.

Thinking it was a dead starter motor I gave it a few taps, and it started cranking again, but does not start. I tried to connect a code reader, and it comes back with "Link error". This reader has worked before.

It has no spark, no power to the coil pack, no fuel pressure (the pump does not prime when I turn the key to run and there was no pressure on the valve in the engine bay), and no communication with the OBDII fault code reader.

I've gone over all the fuses in the engine bay (including the maxi fuses) and all the likely ones inside the car. None were blown apart from a 20A one that supposedly goes to the headlight washers, which my car doesn't have. Changed that, and it changed nothing.

There is a 30A fuse in the engine bay that I think goes to the ECU. This isn't blown, but neither is there any power on it when I turn the key.

At this point I'm ready to call the ECU fried. Is there anything else it could be?

I'd only class it dead if Planet can't access it.

Isn't there also another smaller fuse in the interior fuse box?

Well this is embarrassing. There was a fuse missing in the engine fuse box. Apparently whoever tried to get my car running before they towed it back to me went over the fuses, and forgot to replace one. Weird though, it's supposedly only for the cooling fan relay and diesel injector. I have a petrol engine.

At any rate, problem solved, car running again, and the shop that did my starter last time will replace it for free.
