Default please help... heater problem.

hi all..
now of all times my heater blower has stopped working.. not had the car long and today it packed up!
i followed the advice in the 'how to fix heater blower' thread.. located resistor drivers side.. quarter turn and it was loose, got it down just far enough to unplug it, but realized it was the plug part that had melted across a couple of the connections.
the resistor had black stuff (melted plastic?) on a couple of the pins which easily scraped off, otherwise seems ok..

so could someone please tell me the best way to fix the plug? how do i get it out? i can barely reach it now! maybe the plug + wires can be removed for replacement?
any advice would be great.. as i, and my 7 month old boy kinda need it working in this weather?
thanks in advance
