Default Peugeot 307 old key to flip key?

Hi,

I did a search but nothing came up.

I have a 51 plate 307 with a 2 button key (open and lock) i'm just wondering if its possible to change this key to a new style flip key off ebay by swapping the internals over.

I'm looking at Peugeot 107 207 307 406 408 607 2 Button Alarm Flip Remote Key Fob Case & Blade | eBay

Also they supply an uncut blade, can someone tell me if the blade needs to have the etching on either side of the blade (two groves on either side of the blade), or can a locksmith do this when they cut the blade?

I've read that the circuit board on the older key types are slightly misaligned.

Any help would be great.

Regards,

I bought the same, no key cutter would touch it.. so i decided to stick with the normal key until i could afford a new pug with a flip key.
Gibbo likes this.

Ok thanks, did you test out the fob by any chance? Will the internals for inside the new fob and the buttons work ok?

Mine worked fine with the guts transferred, (Using a key with no transponder in, holding the flip key up to the ignition barrel).. if you want i will send you mine its never used and has the side cuts in the blade.. free of charge i just couldnt find a local key cutter in cornwall that will touch it.

The easiest way to see if the car is recognising the transponder chip, is to open the drivers door leaving the key in the ignition. if you get a key in ignition warning beep its detected it - no beep, it shouldnt start! i noticed it after i held my key up to the ignition barrel with the door open.

You can convince them to cut it.
Reasons they wont cut are, they don't want you coming back saying it don't work as they can't program a chip.
Some of the keys of the net use inferior blades which shatter when they cut them.

Go to a decent key cutters, tell them you will pay up front, and will not ask for a refund if the key breaks while being cut.
Tell them you are transferring the innards of another key that is programmed.
If they wont do it find a auto locksmith n they will cut it for you but will prob use their own blank.

Actually just scrolling down the ebay listing - it wont work.
