Default My 2.0L petrol suddenly stopped and no longer starting

Hi guys,
I am having a problem starting my 2.0 L petrol engine now after suddenly stopping and refusing to start. The car cranks fine and the battery seems fully charged. After towing it home, I got on the net and so far checked the following.
- fuses are fine
- relay is fine since the pump is making sound, line humming for a couple of seconds then shutting off.
- grounds are also fine.
- I have checked the fuel pressure and there is no readings at all even though the pump is running with key on.
- I have taken out the fuel pump to inspect, disconnected all wires and reconnected, still humms at key on, but no fuel is going through the fuel line....

What do I need to do next? Is it possible to be a bad pump..

All these happened after filling up the tank with unleaded E10 from Caltex.

Your help and advise are urgently needed,.please...

TIA

Try getting a sample of the fuel out of your tank and have it checked. It might be full of water! If the pump is running then disconnect the feed to the engine at the engine and see if it empties into a container. If not then probably the pump.

The fuel is fine. I have already disconnect the line feeding the engine and there is no signs of fuel. The pump is also humming with key on, no fuel going through the fuel line at the pump end.

If pump is running and no fuel comes out there are really only 2 options

1 no fuel in tank
2 pump faulty

Thank you guys, much appreciated.
I will therefore go ahead and replace the pump as the tank is certainly full.

It would be interesting to know a few details....year, model, type and how many miles/klm
has the car done.

Interesting...our 2003 307 2.0 ltr has covered 187,000klm.
What sort of fuel do you use?
We have always used Caltex Vortex 95 with the occasional top up
with Vortex 98 or BP Ultimate 98

Ethanol is slowly creeping into all fuels now as we are down to two
refineries in this country and a lot of imported fuel mainly from Indonesia
finds it's way into the independent fuel stations.

Most modern cars from at least 2000 are capable of running E10 laced
fuel because of the changes in the old style rubber hoses being replaced by
fuel proof plastic and Viton rubber.
Also, modern fuel injectors use E10 proof components but I will continue to
avoid it's use as long as possible.

It's usually the older cars pre 2000 that suffer problems mainly because of
usage patterns and low quality fuels.
Ethanol by it's very nature is corrosive, hygroscopic and doesn't store well
Most modern fuel will not store for lengthy periods.

I have found that older cars respond better to the use of a fuel system cleaner
on a regular basis as well as Upper Cylinder Lubricant like Redex or Penrite
which not only clean the fuel system but lubricate both the fuel pump
and fuel injectors.

A lot of cars suffer from so much short duration stop/start use which exacerbates
the problems already mentioned.
An 'Italian Tune-up' on a regular basis is the cure
