Well I'm still not sure which key i should be using...
But it would appear that both the two and three button keys use the "Philips crypto 2 ID46" transponder chip and they are quite cheep.
Does any one know what it is that prevents you from using a "used / 2nd hand key", is it the transponder part or the remote?
Transponder once coded can't be coded again to another car, only the original car. Replace the transponder and it may work but no one can find the transponders to fit on the key circuit boards, only the loose ones.
I have kind of done that, i bit the bullet and ordered a key from Perries ebay shop...
Perries are a dealer with quite a lot locations some Pug some other makes.
They said they would provide the correct one and cut the key for £73 including delivery.
So if its the wrong one i can always send it back (hopefully).
Programming of keys.
Re-synchronise the HF remote controls procedure:
1) switch off the ignition and take out the key
2) wait one minute without pressing the buttons of any remote control
3) insert a key in the steering lock, turn it to ignition positive (IGN+)
4) within the ten seconds press the locking button for 5 seconds
5) switch off the ignition and take out the key
6) repeat the procedure with the other keys from point N°3, otherwise move on to point N°7
7) wait 30 seconds, the remote controls are active.
This procedure can be used at any time and with using diagnostic equipment.
WARNING pressing one of the buttons of a remote control while it is desynchronised
results in the switching of the built-in systems interface to antiscanning mode for one minute.
resynchrotpation is prohibited during this phase.
