Default High pitch squeal from auxillary belt region

Hi,

I have recently bought an 04 307 90bhp hdi.

Its got a high pitched noised from the auxilary belt region. This noise apparently started after a new alternator was put on. The alternator is new and there are receipts for it, but i think they put back the old belt.

How hard is it to change the auxillary belt and is there a how to guide. I do most of car servicing and maintence myself but have always avoided belts and cambelts but i want to try. My haynes manual is on the way, but thought i should ask for tips in advance.

Many thanks
Gaj

I had the same terrible noise. It was the tensioner. Changed the belt and, most important, the tensioner (and idler if there is one). Problem solved.
