Default Help no oil showing on dipstick?

Hi

We brought a 2006 Peugeot 307 1.4 s yesterday, drove it home fine. Checked the oil dipstick this morning and it isn't showing any oil at all? Engine ran fine with no noise on the way home and no lights on the dash? Any ideas?
Thanks

Would have been good to have checked oil BEFORE buying it

2 possibilities

1 it has no oil in it

2 dipstick is wrong one/broken so is not reaching the oil there are various lengths of dipsticks depending on engine so it could be wrong one.

Can you take a pic for the dipstick?
There's two lines/markers on the bottom of it. Can you see them?.

The dipsticks sometimes come with a brittle end and can easily snap off.

When you turn the ignition on, what does the oil readout on the little screen in the dial panel say?

When the ignition is first turned on the oil level is displayed for approximately 10 seconds in the speedo milage display window, the level is displayed as a row of "0" (zeros) up to five should be displayed if full and if the five are flashing ,it's overfull. one zero flashing is low or lack of oil. You need to be quick to see the readout as it is only displayed for a brief period .

simple answer to that is give it an oil and filter change, filling with correct amount, run it until filters full and check again (cold),if you still cant get the level, dipstick me thinks.
if your bored you could even measure how much you drained out
storeman likes this.
