Default fascia removal 307 Hdi 2007

Can someone please tell me how to remove the switch blank next to the central locking switch on the top fascia trim without damaging it? Haynes is not very reassuring. I've tried their method and am reluctant to apply too much force in case I break something. I want to get at the retaining screw underneath.

I use kitchen towel doubled over on itself, but in the past I have use thin cardboard and paper.

Best way, I've found, to remove it is to cover the end of a small flat headed screw driver with whatever your using to protect your dash and then slip it under the button, push in as far as you can and then lever it off. Its always the first one that's a pain
