Default Engine judder/vibration

Hi

Just bought a 2005 307 SW with TU5JP4 engine and BE4 J transmission.

When i bought it, there was a severe vibration in the clutch pedal, so I took the transmission out and changed the clutch, could clearly see that it needed replacing.
Also replaced TOB, TOB sleeve and the clutch arm.

Now when I engage clutch at low revs (700-800) there are a clear engine judder/vibration. There's no vibration in the clutchpedal and if I rev it to, say, 1200 rpm it's fine.

Anyone had experience with something like this? bad flywheel? Engine mounts?

Thanks

You had the clutch off so did the flywheel look OK and was it secured to the crankshaft OK? If all correct then next step is to check each mounting in turn.

Flywheel looked OK, but it's hard to tell really. Mounts also looked fine, I've taken them all off to inspect, but sometimes you just cant tell just by looking. I've ordered a new one, the one on the transmission, and I'll see how it turns out.

Was it an inspection or just a glance? Personally I always check tighten the mounting bolts. You can check the mountings by holding the casting in a vice and use a lever to twist the rubber part to check the condition under twisting load.

To be honest, I just looked at it, for cracks etc. I will try what you suggested, thanks.

So even though the engine mounts didn't look bad and seemed to perform ok I changed them all with no improving..

There's also a bearing/rattle noise with engine idling, shift stick in neutral and clutch engaged(pedal not depressed), when I disengage clutch(pedal in) the noise goes away. With clutch engaged there's also vibration in the clutch release fork/arm, which would indicate vibration in the shaft.

I've been googling alot and I've seen it could be related to the input shaft bearing(but I don't think it would be vibrating on ''takeoff'' then), the pilot bearing in the crankshaft or perhaps bent/misshaped input shaft, even though that is probably unlikely.
I've had the gearbox out 3 times now, and yes, I should definately have checked these things then but I've been concentrating on the flywheel the entire time, which is totally fine, and btw, is a single mass..

Any suggestions before i probably have to take out the box again?

Mine is quite rattly at idle but I noticed my new clutch had a slightly different prong design on te clutch so maybe a mm or 2 further back

Iíve found some cars do have a slight judder others donít if itís not terrible Iíd leave it

I found with mine the air box pipe was off which was causing rough running which gave more judder on pull off
