I have done it on my 2002 2.0 petrol, and a couple of HDI's without any problems, but it's not easy to tell exactly how to do it, i havent met two identical BSI boxes yet, but i havent (yet) met a 307 i coulden't fit cc to
I do it the other way around
1. Program BSI and engine management
2. if programming went sucessfull, obtain stalk
3. fit stalk, and test
4. If sucessfull, make cutout for stalk

If you mean stalk versions, i only go for the non-limiter version Peugeot number 6242 Z9
If you get the stalk from a scrapyard, the peugeot number isn't on the stalk, but a 10 digit number are located at the end of it, if you find one of these, they will be good 96538213XT or 96336889XT or 96637159XT
You may need the break pedal switch like I did, it can be found in the passenger footwell (on a RHD) car. I've put photo's on here on an old thread.
