Default Car won't start

Hi I was driving to work when I lost all power. I out my foot on acelarator and nothing. Then the car stopped and engine management light came on. Now the car won't start. It makes a funny noise when I turn the key but doesn't actually catch to start the car. Any ideas?

Check the cam belt. When they break the engine still turns over but the cams do not turn. It gives an uneven sound when it turns over.
Unfortunately, this can be terminal for the engine.

As above, classic symptoms of cam belt failure. The belts don't usually break, what happens is the belt's teeth are stripped off by the crankshaft sprocket.

That is true but it is better if users do give the car details as a norm when asking for advice!
