Default Broken wire coming out of glow plug relay?

My 307 will not start in the cold and it seems to have now power going to glow plugs, when I disconnected the relay at the from of the battery box (held in place by a blue plug I noticed a thick black lead that looked asthough a connector had broken (in pic has large red circle) and a wire of the same thickness loose (in back ground, small red circle) the balck wire is shown by the arrow.
does any body know what this is? it looks to be connected to the centre of the relay nest to a green and yellow wire)

Many thanks Tom

Your sentence does not make much sense the way it is written but it would help if engine details are given i.e size etc

If you have a 2 litre its more likely a weak starter well known issue glow plugs are not essential for starting on modern engines so are not your real issue
assume nothing check everything twice !!
