There is a little panel with slots on the dash near to the glovebox, the cabin sensor is behind that. Warm air will be coming out because the heater matrix still gets the heated water pumped through it. The hot radiator in the matrix warms the air around it which will find it's way out of the vents due to thermal currents - warm air rises and all that. If you set the climate control to any temperature, the system will supply warm air if the cabin is cooler than the temperature set or cool air if the cabin is warmer if everything is working correctly.
