Default Advice on buying used 307

Hi

I am looking to purchase a used 2006 model 307 Automatic Petrol with 110000km on the clock.

Are there any major faults I should be aware of?

The seller says the car is fine but I have heard that the gearboxes could be problematic.

What are your thoughts friendly forum chaps?

Thanks!

The gearbox is known as the "AL4" and they can be trouble. Make sure it changes smoothly through the gears, especially when under load (e.g., while accelerating and not easing off to let it change).

Peugeot say they're sealed for life, but this is a vicious lie. Definitely the first thing you do should be to change the oil in it. It's also critical to use the correct fluid: Esso 71141.

The worst case scenario is that you have to replace the solenoids on the valve block. IIRC there are 6 of them and they're about £30 each. There's also a software update for the AL4 to make better use of the replacement solenoids which have a higher specification than the originals.
