Default 307cc troubles

hi all
Bit of a strange one here, to me anyway, travelling down the M6 yesterday car just died and wouldn't restart. The AA chap put on diagnostics and said there were many fault codes coming up but looked like the coil pack was the probable culprit. He wizzed off and returned with a new one, fitted it and.....nothing, still no joy. Had to get a breakdown lift home 350 later. The car is now in driveway. have done another diagnostic check and is coming up with: P0261, P0264, P0267, P0270, P0351. All relating to the ignition coils!
What on earth is going on? Anyone with ideas most appreciated

Car is a 307cc 2005 2l

The first 4 codes relate to the 4 fuel injectors, not the coils. The last code relates to a coil fault. Bit of an odd one to get all 4 injectors and coils go at the same time. Did the AA bloke try to reset the faults? If not, get someone to try to reset the faults and see what reoccurs. I would do this with PP2000/Diagbox and also try to get live readings while cranking.

Because of the likelihood of all 4 injectors and coils failing at the same time being extremely remote, I firstly would have a look at the ECU plugs for water/corrosion, even internal damage to the ecu may be the cause.

EDIT:
Get it scanned with PP2000/Diagbox as the fault may be a failed crank sensor. If this fails, you will not get a spark or injector signal, and a generic code reader may interpret this as faults in the injectors/coils.

These ECUs are 1 of the few that actually DO break !

When they break it will normally still start or try to start but not be able to rev.

First though i would check your under bonnet fusebox ignore what the AA says they are not often accurate in their diagnosis

Do the key test ignition on ignition off open door does it beep ?

Default Now Fixed, Hopefully

Hi All,
First a big thanks for those replies. In case anyone has a similar problem here's what was up....

the coils were indeed faulty but somehow managed to blow fuse 15, hence all the other fault codes - injectors etc.

Fuse changed new coil pack and voila!

Now why did I spend over 3 hours at the side of the M6??

Because the AA RAC etc only know 2 things your timing belt has gone or your head gasket has gone anything else is generally down to whoever comes out some have a bit of knowledge but most dont.
