Question 307 SW Transmission Issue

Recently encountered an issue where the gear indicator on the dashboard shows a dash (-) rather than the usual PRND. When this issue occurs the acceleration becomes lethargic. Still moves but the response isn't as instant and doesn't feel like it is going through the gears.

Also, when the car is parked and the gear lever is in park, it for some reason thinks it is in reverse (reverse light on as well) and therefore would not start, though after a while it at least goes back to showing the dash on the dashboard again and the car can at least start, but again putting it into D shows the dash instead.

Any ideas as to a cause and/or solution?

It sounds like the transmission is in "limp mode" - a reversionary "get-you-home" facility. The problem may be in software, in which case a reboot may help. At a guess, the BSI reboot procedure may be worth a try.

Other than that, a diagnosis with Planet/Diagbox should be performed.
