Default 307 power steering fail.

Can anyone help, 307sw 2002. 2 days ago my steering locked up, I pulled over, no oil around, started and drove off all ok. Yesterday I felt sterling start to stiffen then it was ok, then failed totally. This morning I have started it and all seems fine, have not driven it though. I live in dubai so all parts cost a fortune, before I get ripped off for a pump etc is there anything else I can check. Is it easy to do ones self if I get a pump . Thanks for anyone who can help. Last thing when it originally stopped there was only a tiny bit of oil showing on dip stick, I then topped it up, but it has not helped.

Check wiring to the PS pump. Take off the front right wheel and remove the wheel arch liner.

Nothing special tool-wise needed. If a new one is needed, it will need to be configured using planet
