Default 307 HDI 90 55 plate 1.6 EGR Issues?

Hi

A couple of queries

After changing the injector seals this afternoon, took the car for a run, only managed 5 miles before it lost power and stopped after a brief period of hard acceleration from a junction.

Found on the the injectors had worked loose,, new seal bedding in? this was re-tighnened, tried to start the car and it would not start.

Checked the injectors which were all recieving fuel, checked the inlet manifold seals, all ok.

attempted to start the car again and it emitted white smoke which smelt of rotten eggs/sulphur.

I let the car stand for 40 minutes whilst the recovery team arrived, I tied the car again and it burst into live at the flick of the key. on running I noticed a small amount of white smoke from the Turbo area which smelt of diesel, the excess fuel burning off?

Could the reason for the loss of power be the dislodged dirt from the injectors going through the system and blocking the EGR?

RAC could not find any fault codes when they checked the car

The second query surround the use of terraclean/Fortron Injector/EGR clean

Has anyone tried this and how successful is it in terms of cleaning the EGR

The car had 3 injector seals failed allowing the fumes to enter the cabin.

When we compared the old and new seals they looked different, the Mechanic who fitted them remarked these were off the 1.4 engine as the new genuine ones fitted perfectly. He cleaned the seats of the injectors to ensure a good fit.

We'll clean the EGR today, thanks for the reply

Quick update, had the Fortron injector service on Saturday, cleaned out all the dirt from the system and the car now pulls like a train returning an average of 68 - 70 MPG, up 10 from before the service.

Thanks for all the help

The Fortron Injector clean is similar to the Terra-Clean system of cleaning the injector/EGR and the tops of the pistons. Worked a treat on mine as since I've had it done I've average an extra 10mpg and smoother running.

Its less wildly known as there's no advertising in the media, probably a little cheaper in this case

Forte was bought out by Wynns a few years ago, you can still get the original product as some of the ex-directors for Forte set up another company call 4-tec.

I was talking to a rep for this product, his C5 1.6 HDI estate had over 400,000 miles on it having used the engine flush at every service as well as the fuel additive
