Default 307 CC 180 with no guts

I am a little suspicious of my car, it goes like a turd but is supposed to be 174BHP

I am wondering if the engine has been changed but cannot seem to find the engine number. I have the VIN number and that seems fine

BTW 2004

Also it doesn't have cruise control and I think it should have.

Additionally it doesn't back off the throttle very well, and the rev counter keeps shooting up

Also acts like its got turbo lag but doesnt have a turbo

1 Should it have cruise control?
2.Where is the engine number?
3. Any ideas on it turdishness when i put my foot down??

Cheers folks

Cheers

1 The 180hp engine is not very good certainly does not FEEL like 180 and it never is more like 170 it really needs revved to get the power from it

2 These cars dont really have engine numbers as such its etched in but wont help you much even if you can find it

Engine code is RFK and it is also known as EW10J4S

3 Vin will have RFK if its RFR its normal 2 litre 140hp 136 hp 138 hp depending on vehicle ALL same engine though !

Air leaks on the intake will affect oomph

Cruise is an option on most cars and 2 cars the same can have or not have

Default Yeap

Ok the VIN does have RFK and I have noticed that it requires a lot of revving to get it going

Thanks

Intake?? where is that? Sorry little or no knowledge of engines, what might I be able to do about it as my Citroen Xsara 1.4 was faster to accelerate

Post the last 8 characters from the VIN and we can tell you what the car had when it left the factory

We also have a 307cc 180 which doesn't have cruise and feels very slow compared to my 407 2.2 DHi 170 (and is a complete lemon; I can't tell you how much I hate it). It's a different animal above 3000rpm.

Stupidly high RPM at 70 in 5th.

As above: VIN contains 'RFK'.
The 180 has a silver metal inlet manifold but the 140 is black plastic.
It should also say 180 on the sticker on the driver's B pillar (although, strangely, ours says 140).
