Default 307 2.0 HDI FAP oil

Hello

I have a 2003 307 2.0 HDI FAP, 150k miles approx. and it's due an oil change. Since I've had the car I have always used total activa 9000 5w40, but saw an offer on 5w30 FAP specific oil (C2, PSA B712290). Any opinions on using this 5w30 oil in an older engine or best to stick to 5w40, or does it not really matter?

thanks

Halfords and Opie recommend 5W30. Euro recommends 5W30 and 5W40.

5w30 is fine it's an approved oil for that engine. Many dealers use that grade across the range or 0w30 on some newer models

My Wifes 2005 20 hdi has 259k miles behind it on a diet of 5w-30 synthetic since new. The engine runs like the day she bought it 14 years ago.....
