Default 307 2.0 HDI 90 bhp

Hi All

I drove my sons HDI yesterday, and my initial reaction was, wow this is sluggish, I couldn't hear any turbo whistle and pulling away was sedate to say the least.

Any quick checks to see if the turbo is actually working? It had no punch when accelerating but when up to cruising speed if felt great.

Thanks

Dave

Sounds like my old 90bhp 307.

You could get a diagnostic to see if the MAF is faulty - on these models it doesn't always bring up an EML.

Also blank off the EGR with a golf tee. See my guide on it.

how do I find your guide?

Is there not a way of just disconnecting the turbo and see if it makes a difference?

You wont hear a turbo whine until way past 2600-2700rpm if it's anything like my old one, and even then it was a very faint whine

Still that being said, loved that old sluggish smoky beast!

Check for collapsed/split hoses as well

If the turbo is not working you will find it hard to climb hills and it wont go much past 60 if it climbs hills and does more than 60 the turbo is fine.

90 hp cars are always quite slow 110hp cars are way faster than the extra 20 hp would have you believe but again when their turbos are not working they also struggle to top 60
