Default 2003 307 haphazard misfire

My 2003 has an intermittent misfire in cylinder 2, EWL comes on and pollution error on the little screen. My cheap ELM327 shows P0202 code. When I clear the code the car runs fine for 30-40km before the same thing happens. Then repeats. Interestingly this only started after I had the cambelt changed - mechanic assured me that this is coincidental (Google search suggests this is far from common). I'm leaning towards a faulty coil in #2 and I know I should get a full diagnosis done but trying to avoid the NZ$200 fee for that.
Misfire kicks in around 2000rpm, fires on all 4 cylinders above 3000rpm.

It would be easier if the misfire was continuous!
Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you checked the plugs or know the history of them?

Have a look at them to see if one looks like it has not been firing as much as the others. Also don't forget they should be torque loaded to a specific figure.

Thanks for the suggestion however I got the same fault code with the old plugs and the misfire is infrequent and a small proportion of driving time (<5%) of driving time that I probably wouldn't detect any difference! Think I might have to bite the financial bullet and get the full diagnosis
