Default running cool?

Hi guys, I wonder if you can help me with this quandary

I've had my 306d for about 3 months now and I have noticed in the last couple of weeks its starting to run cooler.

The gauge used to sit at about 80, but now it seems to be sitting at 70 and only creeping up under hard load. Is this normal or does it need further investigation?

My first thought was that the water level might have dropped. It had and I topped it up but it has made no difference.

(I've heard these engines run a bit cool, but do they run that cool?)

Could be a thermostat problem, might be stuck open, get it out and do the hot water in a kettle trick to see if it's operating correctly.

if it's definately knackered, it will be open when you remove it. (should be closed if you check while engine cold.)

Mine ran cooler after a cam belt change. 70 sounds about right i'd say.
