Default Peugeot 306 Gti Filling Fuel

Hello all

Question about filling the gti with fuel, from what I can gather they have a 60 litre fuel tank and when the fuel light comes on there is about 6 litres left in the tank but the last few times I went to fill the car up it started to click off at 40 litres and I gave up at around 42 litres trying to fill it, is this a common problem or do I just have something like a dodgy fuel gauge

May not apply to the 306 BUT on some Peugeots, you can change the low fuel warning to show sooner or later than the default. I changed mine to warn me of low fuel sooner to help stop me running it too low and risking dragging up any sludge in the tank.
