Default Misfire between 2k and 2.5k revs

I have a 1999 306, 1.4 petrol. It has a misfire bewteen 2 and 2,5 thousand RPM, has anyone ever had this issue? It did occasionally hic and the engine management light came on but went off after a minute or 2. This time it happen I would have my foot on the accelerator and it would be unresponsive then all of a sudden take off then stop again, the management light stayed on constantly. I left it parked up all day then got in and there was no problem at all. When it is sitting idling you can raise the revs and hear the misfire, it's there constantly but the hics & management light are random. It was serviced and the plugs changed within the last 2 months. Has anyone else experienced and fixed this please?
Thanks

I know it sounds stupid but I had a saxo with the same problem and I changed the plugs and it sorted the misfire. I know you said you have just had them changed but for the sake of 20 it might be worth a go?
