Default MAF sensor fault

Hello guys. The dreaded Engine management light is back on, and this time Lexia tells me the Maf Earths are Either open circuit or short circuit. Ive removed the connector and multimetered pins 3 and 6, and have sound readings to the battery negative (Bearing in mind ive mod'ed them on an independent wire). My question is simple. When a MAF fails, do they tend to short out and throw this type of fault code?. Thanks :-)

Just plain electrical contact cleaner. When I replaced mine the jubilee clips were a bit tatty so I stripped down and cleaned all the air piping and fitted new clips, and recovered the tape on the electrical cable.

Contact cleaner it was, and over 2200rpm it revved. Didn't even require the services of me laptop to get the light off either, so bonus!. Thanks Gibbo :-)

Good stuff. There'll still be a P code logged in the system though, so its worth clearing it.
