Default blower/heater resistor

trying to find heater/blower resistor on 306 ,1.4 meridian year 2000
this is air con version so think its in a dufferent place to non air con
problem: fan running full blast all the time,so gather resistor is knackered
have looked front passenger side in engine bay below wipers to no avail
only thing i have found is what looks like a transistor type thing fitted behind the actual fan motor,but am flumaxed to how to test it or even if this is my problem
any help greatly appreciated
will post pic of offending item as soon as i took one

You sure it's not down the air intake below the scuttle panel

I think A/C models have hedgehog style electronic speed controller and not basic resistor. The speed controller is built into heater blower motor

Yeah that's what's mounted at the side of the fan,just as cheap to buy a second hand fan
