Default 306 alarm and immobiliser problem

ive just bought an, L reg 306 XRDT,
and for some reason every time i open a door the alarm goes off, and my car will not start because the immobiliser is on. i need to know how to de-activate the alarm system and knock the immobiliser off.

Peugeot dealer told me to Press main button on key fob then the small
deadlocking button , leave car for a few mins and then press the big
button again and the indicators should flash several times and
deactivate the alarm.
