Good Afternoon, All.
Collected the car yesterday.
1. When I start the engine and also when I turn it off I get a loud metallic clicking. Is that normal?
2. The phone charging plate is sloping away from me. Is that normal?
Many thanks.
Regards and Merry Christmas.
Mike.
Good Afternoon.

John
Thanks, John.
Just had a thought...I wonder if what I'm hearing is the steering locking / unlocking! I'll mention it when I take the car back in a few weeks for its initial checkup.
Regards
Mike.
I know what you mean by the clicking sound. The clicking sound is normal. All the 3008 new vehicle I have seen and my vehicle have this sound. Don’t worry about it. I don’t have the charging plate as I specifically ask not to include even though it was standard for my country. Thus, I cannot comment on that. Sorry.
I think the clicking is the steering lock engaging and disengaging. Not noticed it so much on start up, but can definitely hear it when I stop the engine. Once I hear it I just turn the wheel slightly to fully activate the lock.
Clicking from steering lock? It's either the door locks that automatically lock when you start to drive and opens when you park, or there's something wrong with your cars.
I can confirm there IS a clunking noise on the Auto. My 508s do it, my Traveler does it and ... Wait for it!!... so does the wife's 3008. The manuals don't.
It's the steering lock. To test it press the start button (or turn the key to aux position) without applying the foot break. You'l hear the steering lock come off.
The door lock thing don't come on until one drives off.
Thank you so much, Grumps.
That's exactly what I was thinking.
Don't know why it makes a difference whether you have manual or auto though.
Have a great day.
