I had a problem with my Peugeot Expert 1.6HDI. It cuts out mysteriously when you get near 3000 Revs. (On fast roads). It was the crank position sensors. Does all the timing to the ECU.
It had a thermal intermittent fault. Only happens at high temperature. car runs perfect again when cooled down. Its misleading and you start looking for all kinds of fuel pump, injectors issues. So change the sensor before you start investigating the fuel system.
