Default What is the proceedure for replacing a 207 1.6 HDI fuel filter (metal type)

Hi,

I would like some help please.

I'm unsure if I'm doing something wrong when replacing my fuel filter on my 2011 207CC 1.6 HDI with metal canister but once changed it I cannot get the car to start, (seal not fell out)

As there is no manual bleed bellows how do I bleed it? This appears to be my problem.

All pipes connected, turned the engine over many times but won't start! Do I need to leave a fuel pipe off the filter to allow fuel to rise to the filter?? Anyone else had this problem

Kind regards

Terry..

Is there not a priming bulb somewhere between the filter and the tank?

Hi wayne,

No there's no manual priming device fitted on later 1.6 HDI models. later models are 'Self Bleed' apparently but mine is a real sod to do. I'm sure there's a trick to the trade in assisting self bleed.

Found this on sevicebox, not sure if it is your engine. I've uploaded it to dropbox, link below. Says the priming pump is on top of the filter housing. If it's not yours let me know and I'll look again.
Or better still PM me your VIN and I'll get the right one - quite a few variants of the 1.6hdi for the 207.

Didn't realise yours is the CC. Only 2 variants - DV6C as above and the other is the DV6TED4 110.

Hi Wayne,

Many thanks for taking the time to help me out. The link you gave is 'Perfect'

My understanding was the system was self bleed, apparently not. Refering to your link I noticed I have a bleed plunger on top of the filter housing, never noticed this as it looks like a piece of the moulded casting. The ones I have used preciously on Peugeots are the rubber belows type!

Anyway, again many thanks for your time.

Kind regards

Terry..

Discs can be bought on ebay. To cover your car you will need 2013 version I would think. Can also be downloaded online if you search hard enough (but I am not condoning that of course)
