Default Temperature Gauge

I bought peugeot 207 1.4 petrol last year.
The past two weeks when i turn the ignition on before turning the car on, the temperature gauge goes half way to 90.
Then when i drive for 5-10 minutes, the temperature goes even higher so the fans start cooling down the car.
What may be wrong with the car??

i would get your temprature sensor looked at for water ingress, sure someone on here mentioned a revised sensor from peugeot.
also get the ecu plugs looked at for any signs of water that may have made its way down the loom.
loads of threads about this problem, although in your case i am thinking water causing resistance between the terminals.

How much does it cost to change the temp sensor and where is it located?

sensor under 20 quid, can do urself no special tools needed.

it should be on front right of engine block between the block and battery cover depending on the model of 207.
