Default Starting Problem - Peugeot 207 1.4 petrol 2008

Car has an intermittent problem when running at low revs and when starting.

Sometimes whilst driving, at low revs the car seems to stutter then the Anti Pollution message comes on on the dashboard. It then seems to drive as if the it's 'pinking' like its running on the wrong fuel. Annoyingly, it seems to clear itself.

Sometimes it refuses to start. Turns over OK but just doesn't start. At first, on a very cold day, I thought is was the battery, which it wasn't.
Had two mechanics have a look and both couldn't see what was wrong. One was an electrical specialist and did a full electrical diagnostic check on the car but found nothing. Checked all the settings and said it appeared as if it was 'over fueling'. Took out the plugs, turned over the engine to clear the fuel, put the plugs back but again wouldn't start.
Left the car for a few days and now starts first time.

Looking to take to a Peugeot specialist to see if they can find anything. Chances are that if it starts, they're not going to find anything.

Has anyone else come across this?

BMW engine. Go to dealer and get them to do a software update and take a look at the coolant temperature sensor.

Thanks for the info.

The garage that I purchased the car from 3 months ago has arranged for a local Peugeot specialist to take a look. I'll ask them about the software update. Will let you know how they/I get on.
