Default Ramps?

Is it worth the investment?

i dont use them, they are big and bulky and you will find alot of cars wont go up them without extentions as the plastics are often in the way.
you also need someone to watch the wheels as you go up.

jacks, axel stands and wheel chocks are what i use, i go a bit over the top as we have had a few lads killed locally with cars falling off jacks.

my last hydraulic failed, luckily the car fell onto a stand.

I couldn't do without my ramps. So much easier for servicing and loads faster. But you do need to make sure they are not to steep as said above. Cheap halfords one's for example would hit the bumper before the wheels. Not that I'm abusing halfords, my stands and jack are from there and I can't fault them. Ramp and stand combo is great for accessing the whole underside of the car too. I strap the wheels to the ramps and then lift the front with the jack. I'm fairly handy with a welder, so I made my own ramps, custom made to suit the car, although I can't recommend it purely down to the lack of testing etc.
