Default Problem with car starting.....

Hi
Wonder if anyone can help, sorry if this isn't the right place to post this but I'm stuck!
My 56 plate 207 was flat as a pancake on Monday.
We jumped it with jumpleads after talking to our usual mechanic.
It started, I left it running a while. stopped it and started it a couple more times and it started ok.
I went out in it and gave it a run up and down a dual carrigeway to see if that helped..........it didn't, i stopped at a supermarket and tried to start it again... nothing!
I called breakdown, tried it a couple more times and nothing....... tried one last time before breakdown came and it started!
I drove it to my mechanic who tested the battery and said it was charging ok so wasn't the alternator but suggested a new battery. he stopped and started it and said yep new battery.
drove it home and ordered a new battery as my other half can fit this.
Started it a couple more times throughout monday eve,all ok.
started tue morning and it stuttered but started. left it at home for the day and then tried t when got home.started ok, went out ot shops again, started fine each time.
went to it this morning.............nothing!!
new battery came, other half fitted it.............still nothing and it was now in 'economy mode'
Couldnt do anything with it, wouldnt jump start or anything.
Called breakdown and they came out and 'bump' started it by towing me, got it started, gave it a run around. parked it up, stopped it now nothing again!!!!
sorry for the long post but any ideas?

when you turn your ignition key does your starter motor run? or you hear only relay click sound?

Sounds like something draining battery. Put your rear seats down then lock the car - is the boot light still on?

Really odd chance did other half make sure the earth cable is fitted secure seems odd it would not jump start

Then it bumped off ran would not start so again seems something may be loose could be worth checking starter motor connections they may have corrosion and need a clean

Good luck

As Gibbo said, sounds like something is draining your battery.
Economy mode usually means something is using power when the ignition/engine is off. This could be a number of things.

Have you done any minor changes to the car in the past month? Fitted new stereo ect?
